I was told that a good way to bulk up your portfolio is to create a "Meet the Artist" piece, where you list all the things you like to draw. I really had to think hard about what I wanted to list! Because the idea was to include things that you "like" to draw, I added what I like, even if I'm not that good at drawing it. I attended SCBWI's summer virtual conference this year (where I got this prompt from), and from what I learned there, pursuing illustration is a deeply personal thing, and you need to focus on yourself and what you like to do just as much as what the market wants you to do. Something to keep in mind!

By the by, there are a couple of references to things that I like and align myself with in this drawing. If I can, I always like to include little personal details in my pieces. Take a good look!
